Chattanooga Whiskey Distillery – Tennessee Whiskey Trail

Chattanooga Whiskey Distillery

The Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery (formerly Tennessee Stillhouse Micro-Distillery) is the first legal distillery in Chattanooga in over 100 years. Conveniently located downtown on historic Market Street across from the Choo Choo, the distillery serves as both a tourism experience and a research and development hub. Due to the success of their award-winning bourbon, Chattanooga Whiskey is expanding and opening a larger production facility along the Tennessee River.

With over six years of experience in the brewing and distilling industries, Head Distiller, Grant McCracken, brings unmatched enthusiasm and avid expertise to the Chattanooga Whiskey team. McCracken is a graduate of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, the American Brewers Guild, Siebel Institute of Technology and Indiana University – Kelly School of Business. Grant is also a Certified Cicerone and a Master Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) judge.

Tours at Chattanooga Whiskey include a look into Chattanooga’s rich distilling history prior to Prohibition, how the company helped change century-old laws, a walk through the production process and barrel aging, and finishes with a full whiskey tasting. Tours are $12 a person, offered seven days a week on the hour. Maximum capacity is 20 per tour with the full tour lasting one hour.

Given that the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery is a research and development micro-distillery, tours focus on education allowing visitors to get an up-close and hands-on peek into the production process, with the sensory experience of sampling different stages of fermentation. All of the staff are trained tour guides with the ability to answer industry and/or specific production questions. Private tours are available by pre-booking.
